We just returned from a trip to Venice. I found Venice a little too touristy, but I'm glad I went. My favorite part of the trip was the day we spent on the island of Burano. Burano is an island north of Venice, and it's so unbelievably charming, the houses are all brightly colored, everywhere you look is picture perfect. Here's a painting of one of the gardens on the island. Everyone had bottles of water sitting outside their front door, and we were very curious about what it meant. I mean every single house had at least one, if not two or three clear plastic bottles filled with water. Google had the answer, apparently the water bottles keep male cats from spraying there, or so it's believed.
